My opponent has been the President and CEO of the same lobbyist group for 18 years.
While continuing his lobbyist role, he’s been paid to be a full-time Supervisor for Maricopa County for almost 8 years.
He regularly puts forward policies for the BoS and bills for the State Legislature to benefit his lobbying group.
In March, for example, he forwarded a bill to the Arizona House that would ban cities and towns from requiring fire sprinklers in venues with 300 person capacity and a liquor license.
The Coronavirus and the Arizona #StayHome order got in the way of the bill moving forward.
He also has diplomatic plates on his car.
In 2019, he was appointed by the Republic of Estonia to be the Consulate of the Republic of Estonia for Arizona.
Estonia is expecting consulates and consuls opened in AZ, CA, and FL to provide help for Estonian citizens, but also work to advance economic and cultural relations.
“I’ll be working to find new ways for commerce between Arizona and Estonia as well as being the point of contact for Estonians living in Arizona, helping them solve problems and connect them to the people and resources that will enrich their lives in our great state,” the Maricopa County Board of Supervisor for District 2 said in a statement about his appointment as Consular of Estonia to Arizona.
In 2019, the Republic of Estonia ranked No. 93 on Arizona’s top trade partners list, with about $1.39 million in exports every year and about $1.95 million in imports, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Lucky for Estonia, not only is he a state lobbyist and an elected County supervisor, but he also happens to own some import/export businesses with impressive annual revenues and suspiciously low employee counts too.
The #ConflictOfInterest is strong in this one.
